IMPORTANT Keep in mind, not everyone is supportive of the movement. In order for the movement to be effective it is important to understand both sides of the spectrum and not just the 99 vs 1 spectrum, but the spectrum among the 99. This interview is an example of a 99 who does not support the movement because of flaws within the movement itself.
okay here's the questions:
Q: Are you aware of the Occupy Wall Street movement and its agenda?
Q: What do you think about Occupy and the goals they want to achieve?
A: I think Occupy’s goals are wrong. What they want to achieve is against traditional founding father ideals.
Q: Do you agree or disagree with Occupy? Why or why not?
A: I disagree with Occupy. The movement is based in an idea of wealth equality, something that will never truly happen. They attack large corporations accusing them of cheating the common man while using these same corporations for their “cause”. Example is Facebook, a billion dollar company and they use it for their ideas. The group is made up of a bunch of idealist young people who live off their parents money to emphasize what they see as a worthy cause. It is a Neo-Anti-establishmentarianism movement, these are the new hippies.
Q: Have you participated in any rallies/protest/gatherings for Occupy? If so what was your experience like?
A: No I have not
Q: How do you feel about the police response to Occupy protesters?
A: I think the police have been rather fair. The movement is a large rally so a police presence is needed for protection, and the arrests have mainly been due to curfew violations, hours after curfew, so the arrests were just.
Q: How do you feel about Occupy protesters methods regarding protests and gatherings?
A: I think they have the right, and as far as I have investigated they have not over stepped their bounds for protest. I think some of their methods such as promotions using large corporations is somewhat hypocritical, and I would be willing to bet the large majority of people involved in the movement have no issues with money and come from rather well off families. However, this is their Constitutional right, and I support their right to voice their dissent with wealth distribution in the US.
Q: What other thoughts do you have regarding Occupy?
A: Honestly, I think it is a laughable disorganized movement with no clear direction.
Anonymous asked: Hi! I was thinking of going to an occupy protest, but I saw the video posted about occupy oakland. If I go will I be in danger?
Anonymous asked: Why should I care about Occupy? How does it affect me?
“We Are The 99 Percent”
There are numerous examples of excessive police force towards Occupy protesters, here are just a few examples. Occupy Seattle A 19 year old pregnant protester, a priest, as well as an 4 foot 10 inch, 84 year old protester Dorli Rainey (shown above) were blasted in the face with pepper spray. After being sprayed, the pregnant woman was sent to the hospital while Dorli was treated by...
Brutality on the Front Lines
Throughout the duration of the Occupy protests, there have been several hundred arrests made by police on the scene of the protests; however recently there have been several incidents involving police brutality towards the Occupy protestors. These incidents have raised questions as to if the police response to the protests is appropriate and necessary. The Occupy movement focuses on the concept of...
